England have such great strength in depth. Being able to being players like Mead and Kelly off the bench is a real bonus. I'm glad I watched this instead of the ludicrous club world cup.
The Welsh manager was candidly honest about the gulf between the elite teams like England and a team like Wales, where some players don't even have professional club contracts. Had England only won by 1 or 2 goals, that would be cause for concern, but the second half clearly became like a training match. England could have stepped up at least two gears against a better team.
I agree the Sweden game is going to be tricky but it will feel more like a WSL game (for obvious reasons) and better WSL teams have always held Blackstenius and Rolfo etc. England will need to be 100% focussed for the entire game. Bronze and Greenwood will need to prioritise defensive duties, and I also think it matters that England gets the first goal. Sweden tend to be stronger in defence than in their attacking third, and, they have that 4-0 defeat from the last Euros hanging over them. It will either be close, or a repeat of 2022.
Biggest threat in this game beyond doubt is Kaneryd , on her own can cause more problems than our three put together. If we can smother her out then Sweden will be neutralised , if not we are asking for trouble. Blackstenius is off her game and wasteful despite a couple of goals and prone to offside traps. Asllani seems off her game also . missed two easy goals she should have scored and her passing is well , unlike her.
