Interim WBA Super Middleweight Champion David O. Morrell Jr. (4-0, 3 KOs) earned a dominant knockout victory over Mike Gavronski (26-4-1, 16 KOs) in three rounds Saturday night in the main event of FOX PBC Fight Night and on FOX Deportes from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

A former Cuban amateur star, the southpaw Morrell, now hailing from Minneapolis, came out throwing fast, accurate and powerful combinations from round one and almost immediately had Gavronski, from Bellevue, Washington, staggering groggily around the ring. Morrell finally dropped the dazed Gavronski for a nine count with a fearsome combination of shots at the end of the first round.

The relentless attack continued in rounds two and three, as Morrell delivered an array of power shots. After a final clean uppercut sent Gavronski’s head snapping back, Referee Jack Reiss had seen enough and waved it over at 2:45 of round three.

Through the almost eight minutes of action, Morrell threw 208 punches and landed 102 of them according to CompuBox.

  1. Morrell no doubt has skills and power but up against elite competition his frustration well get the best of him and his dirty tactics and annoying smothering during the breaks exactly what happened during the Mario Casares fight

  2. I could write in English, but I would like to say it in my language, pudo haberselo comido desde el primero pero necesita rounds, necesita aire,es todo un campeon. He could eat him from the first round, but he needs rounds,he needs air,he is a champion.

  5. Is this the guy who want s to challenge David Benavidez, you cant beat Benavidez you are strong but still you cant beat Benavidez, you!re to slow for him Benavidez is fast giving you a hard combinations, you!re still raw for him.

  6. Morrell might turn out to be the best Cuban fighter I have ever seen.
Cuban skill-set, coordination & balance, along with a wide range of punches with either hand, especially the right.
If he looks impressive in his next fight against Kalvin Henderson on June 4th, they should look to step him up against a contender – his amateur experience should enable his handlers to move him quickly..

  7. ESE HOMBRE NO DEBIO DE PASAR DEL SEGUNDO ROUND. UN HOMBRE QUE LANZA GOLPES SIN FUERZA. AL MENOS SI LLEVARA FUERZA TIENE LA ESPERANZA DE UN GOLPE

  8. Did they pull Gavronski off the street and give him some gloves and a team?
    Lol

Naw seriously tho, Morrell seems like he could be a big problem if he keeps this up. Wanna see him against a worthy opponent in a couple fights.

  9. no me gusta este tipo de boxeador que amarra mucho eso es porque le teme a la pegada de Morrell
se la pasaba amarrando todo el tiempo para eso mejor que no suban al ring y punto
    Saludos y Bendiciones Campeón
