Welcome to We Are The South Stand, A Manchester City Channel were through the summer we will be reviewing all the latest breaking Transfer News from Manchester City and the Football World with a little help from twitter/X, City Xtra, David Ornstein and of course Fabrizio Romano!

As Manchester City head home from the Club World Cup following their loss to Al Hilal Pep Guardiola faces some tough decisions not only around the players that will be leaving (John Stones, Ilkay Gundogan, Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, Kovacic, Rico Lewis, James McAtee, Kalvin Philips and even Oscar Bobb all being mentioned) but also how we stop being open to being hit so easily on transitions.

Do Manchester City bring in a right back such as Livramento from Newcastle United? xDoes Khusanov replace Ruben Dias?

Also is it time to replace Ederson with Diogo Costa?

  1. Man how could pep do it? Either he’s really stubborn or he genuinely doesn’t know we have better players on bench while washed players are still being started.either way it makes him a less than what we claim him to be. KDB should have left with a trophy. How could he so easily throw away CWC we defo should have won it. We were so much superior. All their goals are our November arc goals if you know what I mean. 0 build up . Pep is a serious bottler

  2. I think pep lost it now starting this year we seeing two three times we are back then again its same i think its his last season i dont think they sack him but he is gone

  3. Daps – what has set so many ppl off is that Pep basically did all the same boneheaded things in the Al Hilal game as he did last season: poor decision making in tactics, personnel choices, game mgmt. He literally scrapped everything the team did great vs Juve and reverted back to everything that failed last season.

That shows of a man who is either too stubborn to change when it obvious change is neeeded (likely) or too stupid to understand change is needed (highly unlikely), therefore, what we saw last season appears to be not so much of a player issue as many said, but rather a Pep issue.

I’m not Pep out, but when I’m seeing him make the same errors & reverting back to type as he did last season, especially in lieu of how well he did vs Juve, it doesn't inspire confidence. Just the opposite bc it tells me he knows what’s right but chooses not to do it and that’s a huge problem.

  4. Its a very simple solution to fix the GK issue let ortega go he wants to go anyway. Put ederson on the bench and go and get Diogo costa from porto

  5. The best form 😂 Most points maybe but how did we play? Name one good performance (Newcastle excluded)? Us playing really well 90 minutes I mean… 🩵

  6. Jordan…I think Puply (don’t quote me) said it “ We’ve had a defensive issue since Pep landed at the Etihad! Pep uses possession to mask lack of defensive prowess in his back line! Let this simmer, since Pep’s been here, we’ve signed 2 LB’s…2!! Mendy was solid..great crosser, solid defender, and for sure mad as shyte! Long overdue for a LB, RB, and new CB (The lad from Sporting Ousmane) would do us right! Imo

  7. You are right You don’t start building a house with the roof…
A solid defence was a key factor when we won the treble… 🩵

  8. Livramento mentioned lots. We will have a RB at some point but no Livramento anytime soon and no RB anytime soon. Nunes, Khusanov and Lewis can battle for RB position. BTW, Lewis is going to speak with Club in August and most likely a new contract 🙂

  9. to all the pep out crowd, go and watch some united streamers because that is 100% going to be us once peps leaves and for years afterwards, and if you think any different you deluding yourselves. do you honestly think sacking pep and getting someone else in is going to win us a treble and 4in a row, if were lucky we win 1 prem in the next 5 years, maybe 2 in the next ten. we're always going to be chasing and comparing what pep did, no manager stands a chance. at least with pep in charge we stand a chance of winning another 1 or 2 before he leaves and the shit hits the fan

  10. Ref Bernardo: look at the state of Bernardo at the end of the last game. He gave everything in horrible conditions. That team getting grief over that one game? Seriously? Conditions were horrible. Team is very tired (some shattered) and it showed but, they still gave everything. They are now off until July 28th. They have chance to rest and have a much needed break. 💪

  11. Ref Cherki comments. He's RW in this team. We will see him switch at times but dont expect him to start every game. He will be given time and he will need to settle.

  12. We cant get rid of the manager because he has won a lot for the club but we must come to realise that at a time all good things come to an end. However, I feel with the players we have brought in, we can compete and win trophies this season but the board needs to have a sit down with the manager. You cant keep on repeating the same thing and then expect a different result. That is madness. You cant spent over 300m on players but yet you prefer to stick to the uncs who disappointed massively last season. Also, a serious conversation needs to be held about Ederson. Honestly, I dont think we should continue with him. We need a new gk or promote Ortega to number 1 for this season. The first job of a gk is to prevent goals from going in. Every other thing is secondary and Ederson is failing massively in this regard

  13. I think I speak for ALOT of City fans when I say that over the last year Peps team selections, tactics, substitutions and overall in-game decision making has got progressively worse, which has and is hindering the development of other players and has affected results.

  14. hope cherki stay strong it's not easy when he lose 3 comps /tournament wit 3 difference gaffer in a single year fonseca – deschamps & pep it's mental
