Highlights of Team Melli captain Alireza Jahanbakhsh against Iraq, in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
Iran led by Croatian head coach Dragan Skočić, defeated Iraq 1-0 (goal scored by Mehdi Taremi) at home and qualified to their 6th World Cup tournament.
Team Melli celebrated their qualification with all of their fans. Including Iranian women, who are usually disallowed by the government to attend sporting events. Except for rare occasions, like this one.
Alireza Jahanbakhsh and other players have voiced their support, to allow Iranian women fans back into stadiums.
