Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Krasnodar captain Eduard Spertsyan but face competition in and outside the Premier League.

According to L’Eco di Bergamo, via Tutto Atalanta, United are monitoring the 25-year-old but Brentford, Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain, and Atalanta are also keeping tabs on him. The report adds, however, that Ajax have a ‘concrete advantage’ in signing him.

Despite Bruno Fernandes reportedly turning down a Saudi Pro League move, speculation is still circling that he could leave United after they failed to secure European football next season. If he does go, finding a replacement for the Portugal international will not be easy, and if Spertsyan was signed for €25m (£21.5m), he would be under huge pressure to perform at Old Trafford.

Armenia international Spertsyan scored 11 goals and bagged seven assists in 35 appearances for the Russian side, who secured the league title this season. Incidentally, the attacking midfielder has just over 12 months until his contract expires.
