With his current deal due to expire at the end of the month, Rabiot’s future at the Allianz Arena was doubtful amid interest from Manchester United.
Given his desire to play Champions League football which he described as ‘crucial’ in deciding his next move, the prospect of going to Old Trafford was previously a strong possibility for Rabiot.
“I wanna play Champions League – it will be a crucial point to make a decision on my future,” Rabiot was quoted saying by the Mirror back in March.
“New deal with Juventus? There are no recent talks but we have time to do that – there is no news at this stage.
“At this moment I feel good, but I don’t know what’s going to happen – the important thing is to give 100%, then we will see what happens.
“I will talk to the club, but right now there are more important things to think about.”
After several weeks of negotiations, the Frenchman is now set to continue with his current employers for another 12 months at least, with an official announcement expected later today.
Rabiot’s decision to renew his deal certainly comes as a big boost to Juventus as they do not have to worry about securing a replacement having opted against retaining the services of Leandro Paredes.
Despite not being in a great financial state, Juve have already completed a permanent move for Arkadiusz Milik from Olympique Marseille and agreed a deal to sign Timothy Weah from Lille.
Juventus could attempt to alleviate their financial malaise with the sale of Dusan Vlahovic before the end of the transfer window, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea holding an interest.
