Historically Poland is better than their 80% of neighbors obviously and also Aze or Maldova but I wont say loosing to Maldova was surprising
Heyyy, as a portuguese fella I never expected to hear good football and fernando santos in the same sentence. Fernando Santos style of playing was painfully boring to watch… The fact he kept using the same players like João Moutinho and Raphael Guerreiro, who were "finished" (as we had better and younger players for that position like Vitinha and Nuno Mendes respectfully).

As a portuguese myself Fernando Santos victory in EURO 2016 was pure luck, if he didn’t win he would be sacked way sooner.
His tactics was park the bus in front of goal and then rely on crosses or long balls to prime Ronaldo. Then if it wasn’t workin he always subbed in Quaresma and Renato Sanches to try and create something.

Tbf to Santos Beşiktaş were just an absolute mess last season. They finished 46 points behind the champions Galatasaray and they changed 5 managers in 8 months. But this doesn't take away the fact that Santos' style at BJK was very defensive (expected from his time in Portugal) and he was criticised a lot because of it.
Also I don't think he should be sacked by Azerbaijan just yet after all they have a tough Nations League group and they were expected to lose 3/4 games they played so far. He should have at least got a point vs Estonia but you can't sack a manager on good wages after one bad result. They should have just kept their former boss Di Biasi who got Albania to EURO 2016 and got 4 points in 2 matches vs Estonia in EURO 2024 qualifiers instead of sacking him.
As a man who writes about Azerbaijani football on Twitter, this whole situation of Santos busting his remaining coaching bullets in AZ NT is hilarious yet a bit sad.
