Was never going to work for him long term. He is a maverick on the ball, pep wants wide players to be on the touch line and not leave it. Grealish needs to have more freedom to get the most of him. I’d say I feel sorry for him but he will have earned a fortune and won multiple titles, CL etc so it isn’t like he has things that bad. I’d happily take a tenth of his salary to be the cone guy.

I think Guardiola is brilliant but his rigidity makes it utterly impossible for his teams to bail themselves out whenever they get into any kindof trouble they dont have the freedom to play rhemselves out of trouble through acts of individual brilliance. His stubborn refusal to ease up is both his greatest strength and also his greatest weakness. From Arteta and Amorim to Merescha and Ten Hag, they with their Possession and positional style of play. A style that requires players to follow a script and do very little improvisation.
Grealish came to City and got his trophies but got castrated as a talent. The Villa Grealish was put out to pasture.
