From Real Madrid’s clutch king… to the odd man out.
Rodrygo used to be the guy in big moments — decisive in Champions League comebacks, dominant in Clasicos. But now, with Mbappé’s arrival, Arda Güler’s rise, and Xabi Alonso’s new system on the way, his future looks more uncertain than ever.

He’s not just benched. He’s being tactically replaced.
No clear role. No space in the starting XI. And with Endrick and Trent Alexander-Arnold incoming, Rodrygo is slowly being pushed out of the Madrid project.

So… what’s next?
Should he stay and fight for a place under Xabi Alonso? Or leave for a club like Manchester City, where his unique profile could finally be unleashed?

  1. He was Real Madrid’s big-game player. Now he’s not even a guaranteed starter.

Rodrygo went from delivering in Champions League semi-finals to fighting for minutes behind Mbappé, Güler, and soon… Endrick.

What do you think — should he stay and fight under Xabi Alonso or start fresh somewhere else like Manchester City?

  2. Rodrygo did great for RM 🙏. His issue is not playing as a team. He was very selfish most of the time, unfortunately! Mbappe has nothing to do with his playing time. Under different management, say Barca or Liverpool, Rodrygo would be a superstar; but not at RM. Ancelotti is a poor manager. RM would do better without all the Brazilian players, they feel they are entitled. But Rodrygo is a much better player and personality than Vini.

  3. I feel like we're to hung up on the 343, the 4231 is more likely.

Even so, in 343 Jude would still suit the cm role with the front three staying the same with Rodrygo battling with Endrick and Guler for spots, but I can see Guler being the Jude backup.

In a 4231, he'd have more competition from Guler but also less from Endrick so probably less gametime. The City move does make sense but I think we're being premature with him, give him a season with Xabi before we write him off.

  4. Rodrygo was never Real Madrid’s big-game player. He did have his clutch big moments in the 2022 Champions league, but he was a sub in these games. He then earned his place but now he's no longer performing on that level.

  5. It was really frustrating to hear that he prefers to play on the left. He was never the first option on the left with either Madrid or Brasil.
If he had a better attitude like raphinha this wouldn't even be a talking point.

  6. Rodrygo's entourage saying every year that he has 4/5 deals ready if he wants to go and yet Only Arsenal is ready but they wont give him 10M/year. Grasses aint green outside. Rodry plays 3 great match a year, his defensive work is overblown. Fede/Carvajal took the left and this year after having horrible games he started defending only to be relevant.

  7. I think rodrygo should go Barcelona. He would play LW, and raphinha would go CAM. This would work really well aswell because in games rodrygo could shift in the middle and raphinha could go to the wing and this would be a really deadly attack especially with lamine at RW and lewa at ST

  8. Letting Rodrygo go if Real Madrid does will be one of the biggest blunders in the history of Real Madrid transfers. Media is trying everything to make this rumour the truth but i as a real madrid fan hope Perez and Xabi do not do this mistake of selling Rodrygo .
