he should have just said that maddison is a 'match of the day player'. One of those 7 out of 10s that stand out more on highlights shows than they do when you watch them in a full game. He's in that same category as Ward Prowse and Trippier. Good players but get massively overrated by people hoodwinked by "ooh that was a good free kick"itis

Maddison is average & always has been.
Maddison was central to us getting to the final. Goals, assists, and then sacrificed his body in Frankfurt to get a penalty which ended up being the decisive goal.
Can’t play in the final if you are injured.

I rather like the spurs but this is so corny to do after their own chairman came out and said Europa league title is not really what the spurs want to compete for.

You may not want to admit it, but Madders and the rest of the squad has benefited from Ange's perspective and philosophical views. You immediately dismiss Madders's straight talk about the gaffer, where that straight talk is rarely used by players under a manager about to get binned.

He wasn't really though was he? Lets be honest, Spurs probably won't win another trophy for another 17 or whatever it was years and they certainly won't be contesting the major honours. They won the Europa League, the first year it didn't have champions league teams drop into it. Any average team could win it now
I remember how hard Ronaldo celebrated winning the Euros when he was a cheerleader for the whole final.
Maddison deserves to celebrate his winners medal however given the required defensive performance put in on the day and Maddison being a creative attacking midfielder there is an argument on whether or not he should have been picked if fit anyway. Of course he could have played and unlocked the defence for a second goal, we'll never know

James madders was horrible the whole season literally passed the ball back to udogie or bergval them go back next to the guy that was marking him then drop back received the ball turn left turn right pass sideways and repeat just like son stayed on that touch line didn’t run at players didn’t take on didn’t help the team in the moments when it’s their job to simply put in effort son has a lot in the bank and his age is catching up but madders na he needs to do a lot more .
