  1. As a father of a young kid who plays football and is trying to get into these academies, I always wonder what happened to the other 20+ kids in these pictures like the one at the start. I don't recognise any of them. Hope thwy're all doing well on or off the pitch. Football can be a cruel mistress.

  2. Hard work and a great attitude is the key to success, look at ravel Morrison one of the most gifted young talent that managers had seen but never put in the work and had an awful attitude, saka is a role model for young English talent

  3. It’s true what he says about saka he wasn’t head n shoulders above the rest in his age group Lewis skelly also was nowhere near the ability of some of his teammates but the levels the both of them have gone to especially Lewis skelly is unbelievable this is why all academy players should be given a chance at men’s football to see how they respond physically and mentally i don’t know if the loan system works that well to be honest im not sure how they respond physically club can expose talented youth to high level men’s game but something has to change. If it wasn’t for injuries Lewis skelly could have quite easily been loaned out this season or even sold which now seems unthinkable but that was the dilemma infront of the manager at the start of this season. Glad he stayed and got his opportunity though hes the best thing to have happened for us fans this season as well as Arsenal 3 Real Madrid 0

  4. Those (Nelson, Chris Willock etc) were flashy wingers with a lot of pace and trickery. Those types of players always catch the eye immediately and sometimes are crowned as the best players at a very young. Some stop working hard and some like Nelson just deal with too many injury to ever develop to their potential. Saka had a sturdy build and low center of gravity and he was a hard worker. When I first watched in the academy, I was actually very impressed by him.

  5. He plays the game passionately, with great skill and clearly he could play almost anywhere. For me his humanity and attitude are his strongest assets. A true gentleman in a hugely competitive world.
