I am 🙏arsenal can get Rodrygo. We get him I don’t really care what striker we get .?
Nice to see the Words of Mikel being heard in the right order of precedent. Its a travesty some fans seem to give more precedence to rumors than the words of the Manager of AFC. The Gykores rumors are a case in point . Mikel is on record saying anyone walking in through that door got to be top top quality ..that right away rules the Swede out applying that criterion.
Do you think Jesus could do a job as an Ødegaard back up, rather than moving him on after his injury? He's creative, good link up play, and before his injury he had some of the best defensive numbers of any forward the prem.
The Carabao Cup is harder to win than the Europa League, because to win a domestic cup you'll very likely have to play one of the best couple English teams to win it!
Check the recent different knock video about injuries
Sell Toss overrated overhyped. We need world beaters.
Support for Mark Bonnich
Manure not getting champions league is good news. 😅
With a winger like Rodrygo, Benjamin Šeško is my preferred striker. For his physical tools, age, skillset and higer ceiling. Trust me, 2 years from now Benjamin Šeško would be better than Haaland, whereas this is the best version of Viktor Gyökeres
Come January, 27-28 years old like Viktor Gyökeres can be found in the EPL come January if it's taking Benjamin Šeško that long to adapt.
I'm ok with selling Trossard if the right deal is offered, but if he is sold then in addition to a new #9 you'd need two new wide forwards (1 to replace him and 1 to replace Sterling) or we leave the squad short – and that might not be affordable or achievable given the other work that needs doing this summer.
Do people not realize that the player we actually need to replace is Gabriel Jesus? If his injury is as reported taking him out till end of the year PLUS any time he'll need to build his fitness up again, we have to basically count him out of being relevant for a long time.
We need to ADD players, not replace.
Sorry Tom but you are coming across as "salty". Just by the fact you appear to be justifying a failure to win this season.
Yes I understand your rationale but the fact is Tottenham have won a cup, it is an achievement. And despite how "lucky" their cup run has been and the poor quality of opponents in the final and semi's. But you have to be in it to win it! And they did…congratulations but it is all over now.
But I agree, despite falling short this season, Arsenal ambitions are so further forward with competing for the top honours and that is far, far, far more competitive.
The comfort is our near neighbours are miles away from that, if at all.
The likelihood is they will change the Manager because how backward their football is…
Surely Tom , it’s harder to win the FACup and The Carabou Cup than win the Europa League just because of Liverpool and City are in those competitions
I love how people have been complaining about rotation when clearly the plan for Trossard is to keep him for rotation. If him and Martinelli stay, we’ll have those two plus Saka, Jesus, Havertz and whoever we bring in. That’s a of QUALITY options on the bench for once.
Tom, I agree with your view of the Europa League. I didn't care who won even Spurs and I didn't even watch the match, thank god.
Tottenham basically won the Europa League with cracked ribs, a broken nose, a black eye and a busted lip. Just in really bad shape bro 21 defeats in the league?🤨 Some champions hey, and some final. It is still a bit annoying that they won it and we didn't when we had the chance. We were seen as favourites a couple of times aswell. But I'm still not envious of them, and I'm almost certain next season will show why.
I can’t stand people saying they would drop down to Europa league to win silverware, we’ve worked so hard to get to the CL, UEL is awful
Why are we giving Trossard a new contract! His favourite movie is Mrs Doubtfire and he’s a Coldplay fan! ARTEA out! The deluded Artetasexuals are killing this club ! I want to drink bleach etc etc MORNING EVERYONE !
Trossard and Martinelli are so useless on the right side
People just look at football nowadays without context. It just gets stripped away, mostly for narrative/banter reasons on social media
Everything must be filed away as good or bad, success or disaster. Middle ground is not allowed to exist
Nice show mate
I think it is quite a contradiction for you to say the manager is right in saying a season is not measured by only winning a trophy, and you saying we HAVE to win something next season. Would you accept winning the Europa Conference League then? I love us coming first in competitions and winning shiny things as a reward, but I think it is not fair to pile pressure on winning, just because somebody else outside of the club says not winning is a sign of failure. Does a movie or a song become a failure because it has not won an award? I think we DESERVE to win trophies based on the quality of the football we have been playing since the 2022.23 season.
But I am happier knowing that the club has done everything it could to give us the opportunity to win. Because if we continue doing those right things, we will definitely win things. There are external factors you cannot legislate for that can stop us winning the thigs we deserve – injuries, refereeing decisions, etc. I love my Arsenal because it tries to be a better version of itself, both on and off the pitch, not because it wants to prove Gary Neville and other media trolls wrong. Adding creativity and attacking power is us trying to be a better version of ourselves. It is us identifying areas we can improve our game; and not us responding to what people are saying.
We bought David Raya because he would make us better, despite what many people said of Ramsdale. And we embarked on a project that Gary Neville infamously said he had no idea what we were trying to do. What that should tell us we have people at the club that have done a really good job of taking us forward thus far, and have stayed on course for their plan, despite what everybody else was saying at the beginning. Now, given how such outside voices made fun of our project when it was starting, why should we give in to that pressure now, when it is they who have been forced to eat their words? We are a club playing brilliant football, despite some issues we have in attack.
As long as we continue to apply the best possible standards in everything we compete for, we will win those competitions, more sooner than later.
How have ppl forgotten we only have a 22 man squad. This whole we have to sell trossard and martinelli to get players is flawed. This squad only needs adding to not exchanging (one in one out). We'll probably have 60 odd games next season depth is needed. Plus, competition will raise the levels
The winners of the Europa League and Conference league should get a monetary bonus/reward (say £50m for EL and £25m for conference).
I don't want to see 6 PL teams in the UCL from now on. Wish it was still 4 max. Only adds to the financial differences between the PL and everyone else.
I wonder if arteta would let Gyökeres be a striker or would he have to do some defensive work as well, might be good to have him up there to ping balls up to
I agree with absolutely everything you've said today.
Great show today 👏
How can Arsenalfans enjoy any season, if they only have a binary view of their team?
The argument "People don't talk of 2nd place after a few years" is the strangest argument I hear. Why should I care what happened then, if you can't enjoy the football now? I find it really strange, and think it's just lack of real arguments.
At last, some real talk about the real and true meaning of what it means to be successful, and the true perspective of 'failure'.
Real questions need to be asked about our fitness and conditioning department. I think their methods are leading to an increase in persistent injuries to our players, even ones who before joining Arsenal didn’t have a bad injury record. I want to sign more players too, but I’m fearful they will also be sidelined
“The other day, a guy stopped me in the street. I could see he was down and out. He asked me to give him some money for a bottle of booze. I looked at him, I says, ‘I know your type. I’ll give you money for a bottle of booze, you’ll go out and buy food with it.’”
So, what if next season we were “successful” in realizing our mistakes and shortcomings, and “successful” in addressing all of them to the best of the club’s abilities, and thus played our best football and competed to the very end, but “failed” to lift a trophy, because there was another team who also did all of that and was simply better than us. Is that a failure on our part?
You were very clear on being against this binary way of looking at things, which I completely agree with, but then later u said, “we have to lift a trophy next season.. or there isn’t gonna be many places to go.. no excuses.” Which is what surprised me, and why I’m commenting.
I’m hoping and expecting us to win silverware next season. But, every team is gonna be better, and they’re all aiming to lift the same trophies as we are; meaning we have the same chance of winning them as they do. And that’s how I see it personally.
Having more forwards means there is less load on each player and less likelihood of injury. So we we may go through next season and see one player only got a few minutes because all the other players stayed fit. That will be because we had all those players. Much like ESR the season before. He did play some minutes which lightened the load on other players.
How about this
Let’s finish 6th next year. Get UEL qualification.
Season after, we aim to finish 16 or 17th, and just throw it all on the UEL final.
There would be an absolute meltdown
Hi Tom, persons wishing for Arsenal to be in the Europa League to just win a Trophy is equivalent to fans wanting Arsenal to dbe relegated from the PL to the championship to win that trophy….This level of thinking is absolute trash
"already we failed" lol. So attention-seeking Anthony will not be saying Arsenal should win anything or compete for titles, because we have already failed.
Hey, so we are non binary this year but we will be binary next year in terms of expectations?
What yardstick determines what season we should use trophies as a measure of success?
We learn from injuries this year, what would arise next year that we will need to learn from? This season was not a success at all by any metrics and we should raise our expectations.
Great program by the way. 25:03
Yes, Rodrygo plz.
Chido must be feeling pretty stupid right now
Trossard has earned a higher paying contract by literally being the only player who was medically available for every match throughout the 2024/25 season.
And it bumps his value if/when we look to sell him.
Well said Ton! We have come from the doldrums and been on an upward projectory and took on City at their best… yes we expected this season to be the one where we lifted the PL trophy. Unfortunately, we had a horrible run with injuries and some dubious decisions on field that pretty much ended the season before it had really even started. Frustrations with transfer windows, but I also think/hope we saw the options available at the time as treading water and decided to go all in for this upcoming window
The links may be real, but the chances of an ACTUAL transfer deal are not.
Couldn't care less about them winning what is now a bullshit cup,it's the finishing 17th and being seeded in the champions league, that rule needs to change
Agree with you 💯 Tom, same wavelength completely
Have a very happy weekend Tom!
So pleased to hear we are trying to hang onto Trossard.
Thank you Tom for breaking this down brilliantly ❤. Our online fan base are making content in name of Arsenal failure. I would rather be where we are now than winning Europa league 🏆 and sit 16 or 17 in the league.
Dont always agree with everything Tom says. Most normally as I see the game very simler. But today, Tom nailed it 💯…. couldn't agree more.
The teams that win are the teams that look to their bench when things are not going well. When they call up a player, he can come in and makes a difference right away. Yes, it is not about one in and one out. It’s about squads depth. ❤
Hey Tom 😃
Arteta's comment saying "we need the firepower out there" is screaming 'Gyokeres' at me!
Rodrygo to Arsenal is a massive step down… he should stay in Madrid , which will increase his chances of success.
Excellent question Tom. Been following this channel for a bit. I may disagree with some of your views, the part I love about the content is that you are open to different perspectives and yet stay rooted to some beliefs.
