  1. Big trouble for me is you want someone to come in who makes a big difference ..at the minute I do not see the big difference at the back..I think we need a sweeper who can carry the ball out when we're under pressure ..I believed we looked better when Bitton played last season..ihope mooy is an answer I'm not so sure

  2. Aaron Mooy…cost nothing but wages..tick…will play in world cup…tick….vast experience..tick..massive engine runs all day..tick..absoulute steal …no brainer……

  3. for anybody who had any hope for us to not get embarrassed in the CL, Mooy and Jenz are the final nails in that coffin, there is no ambition at the club to go to the next level, its profit and bonuses first for the directors and shareholders, the football team is very much playing second fiddle, I wont even be watching the CL now, fed up with the embarrassment

  4. Followed Mooy his whole career. Super player who in my opinion will walk in to the 1st team. Very assured on the ball and happy to get dirty on defence. It's a one year contract with no sign on fee, where the risk?

  5. Mooy will be a good signing if you watch the old Socceroos games when Ange was in charge Mooy was key to how the Socceroos played and dominated territory because of his range of passing. The only issue of course is fitness he hasn't really played in 6 months because of the situation in China and we are in mid July. But once he is fit he will be key to Celtic and how Ange wants to play, plus the depth after losing Bitton.
If you need more re-assurance Mooy is at the same level as Rogic but more rounded as a midfielder and better endurance.

  6. Copy Paste: Aaron Mooy no clue why? @31 seriously? So it's lets big him up IMO four years too late. Good move for him like McCarthy (272 games in the English Prem for McCarthy that worked out) pointless. Need at least one centre back. You don't have to agree to everything Ange does to support Ange or his choices. How many people saw him play in China? I did.

  7. Dismiss Aaron Mooy at your own peril. Absolute work horse in the mould of McGregor. Gives his all for club and country. Every club heโ€™s played for since Melbourne City absolutely loved his work ethic and quality. Celtic will be the same. By the end of the season supporters will be hoping he signs on. Would currently be the best number 8 in the club, and can play 6 & 10 as well. Imagine 2x McGregor work horses in the midfield.

  8. Brilliant signing such a great player has performed on the biggest stage – here is a scenario to think of – McGregor injured? He will miss games this year Iโ€™d have mooy everyday over Gucci or McCarthy

  9. You said everything I would loved to have said in the comments section pjd, I think you are speaking on behalf of a majority of the fan's Paul, brilliant show guy's HAIL HAIL ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

  10. What you need to be asking yourselves isnt "how good is Aaron Mooy", but rather "why does Ange want him at Celtic?"
As many others have pointed out, youre getting him for basically nothing more than beer money. So this isnt an acquisition that needs to be examined on the basis of "cost/benefit". Rather, it needs to be examined on the basis of the grand plan that Ange has. He never fails to mention it, and you can be sure that this "Master Plan" is consulted on every decision when it comes to personnel. And if I read the situation correctly, Mooy can be VERY useful in the overall scheme, even if he only plays in the odd cup match.

First of all, we need to clarify just who Mooy is. He played at the center of Ange Postecoglou's engine room for the better part of a decade, if you include both club and country. He not only "knows the system", but he was there when Ange was figuring out just what Angeball was supposed to be. He isnt the most talented player, and Im sure he is nearing his expiration date or there wouldve been some second-year clause. But the simple fact, to be honest, is that I still see lots of mistakes from Celtic in defensive resilience, which shouldnt happen if the players truly understood what Ange is trying to get from them. Mooy's intellect and his understanding of Angeball might be enough to let him make a significant contribution ON the pitch, as well. But the mere fact of him being there during practice sessions is going to give the other players an even clearer idea of how Ange wants them to play. A big part of the problem, as I see it, is that when opponents counterattack, none of the current deep midfield players have the instinct (or the golden marbles) to break up the play before it gets rolling. Positioning is also important, and I think players like Turnbull, Hatate and ORiley need a bit more guidance on this measure to be in a position to cut off the counterattack.

Ideally, Mooy would just be there to serve as a mentor to whatever players Ange tries to secure over the longer term, but I think we may see him rotating in against lesser SPL sides to keep the others fresh for Europe. In any case, he is a consummate team player and will be good for the general team spirit. When it comes to a free pickup, I think he's all you can ask for these days.

  11. Mooy's corner taking is two levels above anyone who Celtic has now. Also he used to play as an attacking midfield and his ability to play sharp 1-2's with a striker is excellent. He didn't have any problem playing 120 minutes against Peru ranked #21 a few weeks ago and was probably best on field. I think he is a level higher as a midfielder than what you have now. His ability to get back and defend is way better than CalMac who is the best you've currently got. However Mooy's pace has dropped off over the years.

  12. Ange named Mooy the best player in the A league back in the day .he is a smart footballer, great set pieces

  13. Heโ€™ll do well for us against the likes of Motherwell Livingston Dundee Ross county st mirren etc. but ifs heโ€™s as good as weโ€™re getting carried away with. Why did Sunderland Nottingham Forrest Birmingham etc not want him. Says it all about our pub league. Why do we have to spend millions buying players when we have a championship winning team we won last season

  14. Careful with your downbeat / disappointed cup-empty discussion – so similar to 12 months ago. Chin up !

Australia qualified the hard way for the World Cup – without Rogic ( who has never been convincing internationally ) – with Mooy as the major senior player.
