Liverpool are reportedly leading the race to sign young Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko.

The 17-year-old forward has started this campaign in brilliant form in the Bundesliga side’s first-team, scoring three goals in nine league games.

In all competitions, he has played 15 times despite being so young, as the German striker looks like one of the hottest prospects emerging in the country.

His exploits are seeing him attract interest from some of the top clubs in Europe, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool the best positioned to sign him, according to Spanish outlet SPORT.

Reportedly, Klopp has been impressed with the striker’s performances for his former club and could be interested in bringing him to Anfield in order to future-proof his attacking options.

However, the report suggests that the Reds will have to compete with Barcelona, Real Madrid and PSG in order to win his signature as he will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Moukoko has come through the ranks at Dortmund but is familiar with Barcelona as he played against them in the UEFA Youth League three seasons ago.

He faced Nou Camp regulars Arnau Tenas, Alejandro Balde and Nico Gonzalez in the two matches that Dortmund won.

From Liverpool’s perspective, as Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah progress in their years, they will need to find their long-term replacements.

How highly do you rate Youssoufa Moukoko?

  1. One thing I don't understand and maybe it's because I'm in my kid 40s but back in the day when a new talent was discovered they were good enough to play in the first team full stop.
Nowadays there's always talk of we need to waste them in don't rush them? For example Beqzilian Ronaldo Rooney etc
Has modern football become harder or are the players just not of the same standard?
Uniteds youngsters all week thrown in at the deep end same for Liverpool Owen fowler gerrard all going onto become regular first teamers

  2. One can only hope that the boy stays at Dortmund for a little longer. If he is only half as good as we all think he is, then he will still have enough opportunity to make big money. But for his development as a young player, there could be no better place than Dortmund. It is THE best place at the moment to turn young talent into super stars.
