I think Liverpool will be absolutely fine without him and probably more balanced. Granted he's got an absolute wand of a right foot, but his defensive work rate and awareness is dreadful. Time and time again this season you see him jogging back, not getting out to players with any urgency. Bradley will do the business for them. And Trent will go to Madrid and realise Liverpool fans were very forgiving of him, those poisonous Madrid fans will eat him alive.

Sick of people acting like Trents done no wrong. He was a local lad who said he "wanted to be the next Gerrard" and since then he's run down his contract, been a distraction on a championship winning run, and engineered leaving on a free because it generally gets you a bigger sign on bonus and contract from the new club. Players like Grealish and MacAllister got fees secured for their teams before leaving for bigger pastures in recent years. He hasnt done the same and he's talked a big game about wanting to be a local legend. It doesn't matter what hes won for us – its left a bad taste because it was done in bad taste.

I think he'll regret this move when he finds out that Madrid fans wont be anywhere near as forgiving of his defensive errors as Liverpool were.

I find it very strange that so many grown men, Jamie Carragher included, think they have a say on what a 26 year old does with his career/life. Sure you can be disappointed he’s leaving but he deserves no abuse

As a Liverpool supporter of 67 years I've seen many a player come and go. Of course it hurts but truly as supporters we are a fickle bunch. Not so very long ago there was a great deal of abuse aimed at Trent when he showed some defensive frailties. He got a total slagging. Next game and a wonder pass and he's brilliant again. The lad has given his best since the day he put the shirt on, the corner against Barca will go down in the annuls of Liverpool FC folk law such was the temerity and vision of who was then just a young lad. So now he decides for whatever reason he wants to move on. That is it. His life. Thank you for 20 years. The only coda I have is As Little Richard said – The grass maybe greener…but you still have to cut it.

Having won what he's won at Liverpool, I dont get how anyone could begrudge him a new experience. Life is too short. The world doesn't revolve around Liverpool.

As a Liverpool fan, it wouldn't have mattered if a player who has achieved a lot for the club chose to leave his boyhood team for Real Madrid after they put in a competitive bid and respected both the player and his club with the basic decency of what he is worth. But for the "local lad" to run down his contract, just to leave to a club for free at their request, not only shows how little he cares for the club but also a deep lack of self-respect. TAA is walking into a far worse environment than he is currently in. I do not wish him the best, because I believe the club he is leaving will find more success in the coming years than his new chosen home.

Trent attacking game was phenomenal. But let's be honest his main job which was to defend wasn't the best. We all have to put our red tinted spectacles on to say that he had mastered the art of defending. If he does play in the same position at Real Madrid he will get ripped apart. The Real Madrid fans will be nowhere near as forgiving as the Liverpool fans. His choice…. you reap what you sow. Ciao

For me, it's a silly point from.cara saying he could stay and try and help liverpool dominate and challenge madrid from a european point of view. It's a short career and that's a huge gamble, I don't see this liverpool team dominating for years to come, let's be honest it was a weak league this year and fair play to liverpool, they took advantage of this, but this liverpool team is far from special. Their special players in salah and virgil are aging, then alot good players but not players that will dominate premier or champions leage

Cry me a river, he won everything with Liverpool. Only Liverpool act like this when one of their own want to leave, the entitlement is ridiculous.

I wish him nothing at all apart from bad luck at madrid. The way he has played with heart strings of the fans and club is disgusting. Why couldn't he had done this a month or 2 ago? Because he is a horrible and selfish human being. Liverpool have given him everything and he couldn't even give them a transfer fee back?

I don’t get why all Liverpool fans are getting pissy about him leaving on a free. Is it not the job of the owners and lawyers to get a fee for him? What’s his fault?
