I think Southgate has lost the dressing room. The players must be thinking the same way we are. They looked disinterested and there was very poor body language in shots from the tunnel just before the second half. Southgate has also lost the plot. This is no time to be making experiments and the substitutions showed sheer desperation. There's no way back as far as I can see.

I think the problem is twofold. These players looked out on their feet, they look like they have just played too many games. That is a problem with having players at successful clubs. Southgate, like many fans, was reluctant to drop Kane who despite scoring is dropping into midfield and condensing play. Problem is Watkins caused problems but doesn’t look like scoring. I think too much is being made of the Phillips comment, he meant a player who sits and dictates play, the Yorkshire Pirlo who was good enough for Pep to pay big money. Hopefully Mainoo or Wharton or even Jude can do that job.
I think Southgate lacks the ability to adapt
We have great young talent that is not being used correctly. I think we need to 2 upfront and run behind the Central defenders.

What is there left to even be said about Southgate? This is a pattern that we can trace back to 2018. Nothing has changed and this is his 4th tournament cycle now. enough is enough. His inept tactics and lack of awareness in game-time decision making is going to cost another 'golden generation' an opportunity at winning something. That Kalvin Phillips comment while hilarious, just truly shows how out of his depth he is.
Everyone’s mocking the Gate over the Phillips comment but remember Kalvin was player of the season and secured the big City move in that year he was alongside Dec in midfield at the last Euros when we reached the final.
England never seem to have that holding midfielder / orchestrator who can control the game, so maybe this is Southgate’s lament.
Last time we made the final playing a back 3, so why not have Trent as a wingback, the left is Trips and Gordon, then you can still have 3 in midfield and even 2 up front!

Gareth Southgate when he started . He started as hero now he is being too caucus and playing like that will not get you to the final . I am not temping fate but I think the players mit as well book a hotel room join the fans to watch the game. The thing is if you sack him who would you bring in the Newcastle manager or get Neil crichley in or Gareth anisworth where he has players climing trees or doing the hacker. Allan shearer is great at talking about how England team should play and also Gary linker is also great at talking about the England team but as they talk the talk can they walk the walk.
Do you know if England lost but played well there would be more understanding but playing worse than a champion ship team is unforgivable
Kane was told to play deep in the second half. Southgate has got to go.
England should not pick Premier League players, the national squad should come from the lower leagues, one composed of players who want to play for the national team. The majority of the current team do not look as if they can be bothered.

Rice lost confidence it was so chaotic in front of him. He didn't know what he was supposed to be doing.
This fool needs to pull Bellingham back put foden or palmer as the number 10 (God damn we have the luxury of playing 2 amazing players and swapping them after 60 mins). Gordon out on the left. Kane up front and not to leave the centre backs' shoulder.
Player revolt required. Southgate needs to be put in one of those white jackets and left on a chair in the hotel now.
Southgate is inept. TAA was put in the side to hit beautiful passes. Beautiful passes to who? No one was breaking the lines. It was all to feet and the team never progressed up the pitch. They invited Denmark to press them. Kane is too slow to make runs behind. Yes. Kane is clinical when he gets chances but he wants get the ball after everyone else has done the running. Kane is the problem. Foden is not a winger. Not Foden's fault. Southgate is taking players out of their normal areas of excellence. Foden wants to play inside left. The solution is a change of formation. 3 -5 -2. The midfield 5 should be Rice DM (single pivot) Bellingham the box to box, TAA to hit the runners., 2 wing halfs (probably Gordon and Saka), Foden in the 10 and Palmer alongside in the false 9. This team can press the opposition defence. They can play the game high. Walker can be the third centre half. This gets Trippier out of the side, poor bugger was being asked to play out of position. It gets Kane out of the side, who is the cause of the problems. He's too slow to make through runs and too slow to press. Teams will always have an out when Kane is in the press. That's why England couldn't press. They had to play the low block. TAA proved his worth. He has hit everyone of the very few runners in the last 2 games.
Why do you you think Southgate was trying to play tiki taka against Iceland? To try and find a system where Kane remains relevant to the side. Well, we aren't Barca and we can't play tiki taka. Every team that Kane has played for has had players to do the running for Kane. He is our best striker, but that is all he is. He's also a very good midfielder, great vision, can pick a pass, but that is all he is. He doesn't have the pace to go with runners, neither our runners or theirs. This means he is limited to a narrow area of the pitch. Neither use nor ornament in the overall picture of the game.
This is a new era of English football. Time to put the older players out to pasture and give youth it's day.

What really irked me was not just players not playing in their correct positions but it was 2nd half at 1-1 Southgate's tactics stunk of somebody just wanting to settle for a point rather than take the risk of going for the win. Our dreadful performance came from a culmination of several things at once. It was players playing out of position, with too many experiments going on like Trent playing midfield again giving absolutely no support to Rice or Bellingham, Trent losing the ball in terrible areas, and there was also barely any press with no communication meaning players like Stones and Rice who're usually unplayable for their clubs were nervous as hell on the ball, and he persists with Foden at LW! Foden is incredible either through the middle or cutting in off the right, and if Saka's cemented his position at RW then you play Foden through the middle. We have Anthony Gordon who's not only a natural LW but he's also the quickest player in the entire squad, so a player with 22 goal contributions and 11 goals last season if he doesn't score at the very least he's absolutely rapid and direct, and to have players like him and Palmer who's the top English goalscorer in the PL last season both still sat on the bench at 1-1 when the game is there to be won is just such risk-averse, safety first bullshit from Southgate. Also he keeps Harry Kane on for as long as possible just because he's Harry Kane, well I'm sorry but if he's having a stinker then at the very least you want someone with a bit of pace to get in behind, but Kane is one of the slowest strikers I've ever seen. Nothing was working so what's the harm with 20 mins to go to bring Gordon, Palmer & Watkins on and bloody go for it! 🤷🏻♂
I blame The FA Southgate should have been sacked after the last Euros. He is clueless tactically.
These players who are working day in day out with some of the best coaches in the world at their clubs must be thinkihg about Southgate "what is this bloke on"
